I inherited a trunk full of Popular Mechanics and Popular Science magazines from my dad. He passed away in 1988. He collected them during the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's.

I've been moving this trunk around with me for the last 30 years. I couldn't part with it because it holds so many memories of him. He loved to work with his hands. He could fix anything. He always wished he could have been a mechanic for a race driver at the Indianapolis 500. But he was stricken with polio right after he and my mother were married in 1948.

I see him in these magazines. I had to find a way to incorporate them into some of my work. Now I use bits of the pages as part of collage. I think of him with every piece I make.
