Make art from a memory+photo you don’t want to lose.

If you have old photos tucked in boxes or albums, this workshop is a simple way to save them and the story behind them as art.

You’ll bring 4–5 photos to class and a few scraps of fabric or paper that hold a bit of meaning.

Nothing fancy.

Just the photos and scraps you’ve kept for a reason.

We’ll choose your photo together.

I’ll walk you through what makes a good image for this kind of project.

You don’t have to decide ahead of time. Bring 4 or 5 photos. We’ll sort it out in class. These photos will not be damaged. We’ll just take their picture.

I’ll give you some guidelines to help you with future projects.

You’ll learn how to make your photo better with just your iPhone.

No tech pressure.

You can watch first, try later, and move at your own pace.

By the end, you’ll know how to capture and clean up an old photo to use in your art using your iPhone. (This section will be for iPhone only but the process is similar for Android.)

No scanner needed, no complicated photo-editing program.

Then we’ll make the artwork.

  • Your chosen photo gets printed in class.

  • You’ll put together a 6x8 mixed-media cradle board layering your photo, papers, fabric, and simple stitching.

  • We’ll talk about how texture supports a story, and how small choices can bring a memory forward.

  • Each student’s piece is a story that she can talk about with others, if she wants to.

You’ll go home with a finished piece—and a story that won’t fade.

  • You don’t need to be an artist.

  • You just need one photo and a tiny story to tell.

  • My process is designed to be simple and easy to complete. The other students make it a fun place to spend some creative time.

  • You’ll take home a printed workbook with prompts to help you tell your story. And a refresher to the steps we take in class.

Ready to join me?

Six seats only.
I’ll have everything you need besides your photos and scraps of paper and/or fabric.

A single memory+photo turned into art.
