How to Use Ecoprints in Your Art Journal
I love to ecoprint. I find the random results fascinating. The prints are easy to make, so I continue to experiment with different mordants and combinations of leaves and flowers. Have you done this before? I hope you find it as exciting as I do!
All of these experiments provide me with tons of botanical images on paper. My dilemma is what to do with the printed papers?
I’ve used them to make greeting cards and have framed some of the best papers, but a lot of the images are not strong enough to turn into art.
Another passion of mine is making digital composite images on my computer. A composite image is made up of layers of digital images (like photographs) that blend together to make new image. They can vary from a single layer to many layers, but they are all interesting to look at and so much fun to make!
These final digital images can be printed or used as a digital image on the computer.
The Results
I scanned in some eco-printed papers into my computer, modified them to fit my art journal, saved them as digital images, and then printed them as a start for my art journal page.
Here are some examples:
I’ve made several collections of printable papers from my ecoprints that are great in an art journal. (They are in my Etsy shop and all on sale now because I’m just getting started.)
This video shows how I used the printed paper to begin my art journal page.
I hope there is something here that inspires you.
